I am having a terrible time deciding between these three. Anyone have any insights? Does UCLA really have a problem with lack of patients? And is it possible to become instate after a year in California? I also heard that at UPenn many students do not graduate on time - is this true? Does UConn really have a good reputation throughout the country?

In general, does where you go to school have a big impact on where you can work later? I don't mean in terms of licensing or boards, but in terms of getting an associate position, having contacts etc.

Thanks in advance!!

No. I could graduate no problem on the patients I have right now. Most people in my class have all the patients they can handle. The 4th years I've talked to forsee no problem graduating on time.

Email UCLA's financial aid office to get the facts.

I'd say it depends on your personality. If you're an outgoing or normal person, yes. You can build a lot of contacts while in school. It is not uncommon to get associate positions from contacts made while in school. However, if you're a hermit, no I don't think going to one school in particular will impact your professional progress.

In addition, you'd probably have a much easier time finding patients for the WREB if you were in CA. You have your own patient pool to pull them from. Imagine flying cross country several times to screen patients. Nightmare. Or maybe you could fly in your patients as well. Still a nightmare.

My advice: attend the school where you feel most comfortable and happy. Any of those schools will give you the opportunity to do whatever you want.
