Should I take the CBSE D2 or D3 year?

I'm trying to plan out my OMFS application as I just finished my D1 year. D2 seems very time consuming at my school in the lab and D3/D4 seems a lot more chill. Do you think it would be wise to wait until D3 to take the CBSE for the first time and make sure I do well or should I try to take it during my D2 year? I'm currently tied for class rank #1 and am at risk of letting that slip if I take it this upcoming year.

I'd start as early as possible, there will never be a good time to study for this thing. You'll be at risk to drop in rank no matter what time you start, so I'd just go ahead and get started with at least a few things like sketchy pharm and micro while your schedule is more full, then add in whichever other resources for path and phys once it frees up a little. But I think it would be a missed opportunity to wait because you never know how many times you're going to need to take this test. I personally know multiple people who are ranked in the top 3 in their class who had to take it between 3 and 6 times. Good luck.

Finishing up my D1 Spring here, have been studying for this thing a few months before school starts, and REALLY started to lock in this year, taking the July 18th test. Agree with Kube that it's better to start early. Plan for a year-long study process, class rank is largely irrelevant (Or so I was told) as long as you're somewhere in the upper 20%, but you can't make up a bad CBSE with a #1 rank.

It SUCKED because our school had us do Class II, Class III, Crowns, and now Endo during D1, so I didn't have as much time to study for the CBSE as I thought during D1. But it's still doable. GL!
