Get ahold of a Triple-A Trip Tik. It will tell you the best way to get to Boston from wherever you are starting from. I would avoid I-95 if you can, especially around NY/NJ. They haven't paved the roads on that stretch of highway in years.

Once you get to New England, make your way to the Mass Pike (I-90), it goes straight to Boston. But don't speed, the highway is known for lots of tickets. My sister got a 300+ one once.
