I am a non-traditional student redoing my undergrad (I am a career changer) so I am trying to finish up my course work. I have completed Gen Chem I and II, Orgo I and II, Bio I and II, and Physics I. This summer I am taking Biochem. I have to take an additional course with that in order to receive financial aid. My options are...Physics II, Anatomy I, and Microbiology. I originally signed up for Microbiology but apparently it is the wrong one? My advisor said students usually take the upper level. I signed up for microbio and public health 2300 not microbio 3300 (since it required you to take molec cell before hand). I dont want to waste my time taking a micro bio class that will not count.

So....my question is, should I stay signed up for the micro I am in or sign up for physics or anatomy instead? If I go this route I will have to take molec cell and micro bio the following fall and spring semesters. Due to courses being full I can only sign up for Anatomy at the moment. Will I die taking anatomy and biochem together over the summer? I have a 4.0 science GPA. Id appreciate any advice! I just don't want to mess up my GPA

If you have a 4.0 science GPA, why are you worried about taking anatomy and biochem together?

I am currently in Microbiology and Anatomy. Unfortunately they are both equally difficult. If I had to pick though, I think I'd go with Anatomy. Physics just isn't my thing, and I find Anatomy more enjoyable. Just be ready for a very busy summer!

I'm a non-trad as well and did a similar thing. Do you mean summer classes the same session or one session after the other? My rec is to avoid Physics II in the summer because it's awful and you need time for the material to sink in (unless you love physics or have a great teacher, neither of which applied to me). And biochem is super fast in the summer. We covered like 4-5 chapters a week when I took it. Totally not a good pace to really learn it, but oh well.

Maybe it's just me but that combination of classes in a seven week period wouldn't be nice to my GPA at all :/

If you're taking prereqs for dental school I suggest maybe taking the requirements for an english composition class--a lot of dental schools require 6 credit hours as a prerequisite. That would provide a good balance in your schedule

But that's just what I would personally do. Only you can judge for yourself whether you should be able to handle those science classes together. Actually, from your science GPA, I think you should be able to hand it just fine so you can probably just ignore what I said....

Take all of them, along with a couple art classes, and get a taste of what dental school will be like.
