Hi there guys, I'm having real trouble trying to simplify this equation:

Its for a physics simplification and I don't know how to get there. Ay help is greatly appreciated... thanks!

Its part of an online tutorial of how to solve a circuits question, but i don't understand how to simplify to that final equation?

It would be illogical to go from the first equation you gave to the second equation with no context. What is the tutorial and/or question?
