Ammonia bums in air to form nitrogen dioxide and water.
4NH3(g) + 70,(g) --> 4NO,(g) + 6H,o(l)
If 8 moles of NH3J are reacted with 14 moles of 0 2 in a rigid
container with an initial pressure of 11 atm, what is the
partial pressure of N02 in the container when the reaction
runs to completion? (Assume constant temperature.)
A. 4 atm
B. 6 atm
C. 11 atm
D. 12 atm

How do you solve this problem?

How many moles of the products are you going to have in the reaction?

20.

How many moles do you have in the reactants to start with?

22.

What was the pressure when the there was only reactants ?
11 atm

What is the total pressue when the reaction goes to completion.

(20/22)11

What is the amount of pressure that is being contributed by the NO2

(8/20 )(20/22)11

which can be reduced to (8 /22) 11

which is 88/22
which is about 4
