Hi all!

I know my name does not reflect my desired profession, and IDK how to change it. Anyway, I have an assignment for my observation class and I only have 1 response and need 4 more. I have attached the assignment and ANY help would be really appreciated. I need the responses by Friday. Please help if you can, thanks much!

-Are you satisfied with your hearing aids?
-If not, why?
-Do you wear your hearing aids everyday?
-If not, why?
-How many places did you shop before choosing your hearing aids?
-What was the most important reason for purchasing the hearing aid
you have?
a. price
b. brand
c. reputation of the place where you purchased it
d. size of the hearing aid
-Do you eventually believe you will get a different hearing aid?

Hang on.... You're posting your assignment to interview patients to an internet forum and are asking THEM to interview patients because you can't find enough?!? Really?? 😕

And the assignment only called for 5 - what happened you run out of relatives?

Personally I think you'd find it more helpful stating something like, "I have an assignment that entails "X" that called for "X" people. I'm 1 person short. Do you have suggestions as to where I might pick up an interview?" And if you were already on the ball you could even add, "I've tried talking to residents of the local retirement home/community, I've been to the geriatric rehab center of my local hospital, I've tried talking to patients within our own audiology clinic, etc...."

Those are my suggestions/recommendations in the 3rd paragraph.

I would love to help you out! I understand can be difficult to find HA users, so look below! 🙂

1. Yes, I love how I switch channels/setting in certain environments.
2. -
3. Yes, I wear them everyday. I have to if I want to do well academically and in the work environment.
4. -
5. One. I've been seeing the same audiologist for years and trust his decisions.
6. D., at the time when i purchased the hearing aid I have on now, I was a very self-conscious kind of person. I wanted something where I can easily hide, so others won't notice and treat me differently, but now all that has changed. Also, my HA is not as powerful as the behind the ear devices for my type of hearing loss.
7.Yes, I usually like to purchase new HAs every 5 years to 6 years. I will be getting a CI in my right ear soon and a new digital hearing aid in my "good ear".

I hope that helps! PM if you need anything!

Thanks so much SoCalAud, I really appreciate it. As for you DrAudio, I actually have no relatives who wear hearing aids, the audiologists who I have been in contact with have been sick for the past few days, I have visited a rehab hospital and I do not not work at an audiology clinic yet.

Really! How soon is 'soon'? What made you decide to go with the CI? I'm intrigued, I had no idea your loss was significant enough to pass candidacy levels...

Spring of '12. I only qualify with my right ear, not both. I chose this option because I have a progressive hearing loss. I figured why not get the right ear started. My hearing fluctuates a lot in my "good ear" and can no longer afford to put things on hold from school and other things in life like marriage and starting a family. I know I can do it with complete deafness, but I would love to hear the words, "I do" and "I love you, babe" or "Go Dodgers/Angels" from my future husband and my first baby's cry in the middle of the night. I don't want to miss all of that.

Fixed that for you. 🙂 I'm very excited to hear the news about your CI. One of our professors got one in college as well. He's a pretty big advocate for audiologists with hearing loss.

Sounds like taking a semester off fits very nicely into your plan! I'm so excited for you. I love that you've thought things through. As an ex-CI-opposer, I still think that extended consideration is best when considering an implant. But from what I know about you, I feel confident that you know what you're doing and will do great with the follow-through of a CI. 🙂

Man, I wish we lived closer to each other!

Oh, I have a question about something else but I don't want to hijack this thread much more; I'll email you or hit you up on Facebook.
