so i've been going through the crack PAT tests and the cube counting section in each test always has one or two annoying figures that really screw with my head. This one particularly screwed me up. i attached their help image as well, but for the life of me I can't see how those two structures are the same. What are some other visualizing techniques you guys use so that you don't fall into this trap that I fall into every time I take a crack PAT test?

Also, what are some other strategies you guys use for counting up the cubes? I do the tallying up method right now and it works fine, but if there's anything else better out there that could save me more time I'll definitely switch it up.

Thanks guys.

Unless they have changed the rules, there are no "hidden" cubes on the DAT. That means that this question is a no-go. An entire row of cubes is hidden behind the "tallest" row, which is on the right of the figure.

I will admit that I immediately knew what was going on with this figure, and I visualized it correctly... They are definitely the same. However, I wouldn't sweat this one.

Also, I think the tallying method is the way to go. The only other advice I have is to tackle each question with the same method--start from the left and move toward the right, do the main row of cubes and then do the "branches." Just figure out what your normally do and stick with it.

Feralis - yeah i was rushing through it so i just kinda selected a random answer because i was running out of time.

glimmer - that's great to hear...it's still frustrating but i guess it's better to have a challenge than something way too easy. and yeah after going through another practice test today i think im just going to stick with the tallying method. it's what i'm used to and i do it pretty quickly.
