Hello all,

I'm meeting up with my academic letter writers this week. I'm going to provide them a list of things including my volunteering experiences, the summer program, and the publication. Is there anything else I should tell them, something that you wish you would've provided, if you already got the letter? Thanks in advance and good luck with the application!

Some writers request your transcript and/or GPA.

I would not hesitate to include a brief paragraph similar to a résumé's statement of interest or statement of objective. You do not need to say explicitly what field you want to go into in the future or anything along those lines (it would be foolishly premature unless you had solid support). You do want to make sure you present a cohesive application, or a "clear picture" of who you are as a person as an applicant. Priming your letter writers in this way (or just by having a good conversation with them) will help make sure they provide pieces to your puzzle that all fit together.
