Hey SDN,
I'm just a tad hung up on how I should approach my junior/senior year as a transfer from a community college.
Background:
Freshman year liberal arts, completing an assortment of unnecessary classes for dental school.
Sophmore year biology major, completing both General biology courses, chemistry courses, anatomy courses, physics I as well as calc I.
sGPA- 4.0 oGPA- 3.98

Now, I feel like I'm somewhat cramming my schedule together to prepare for the DAT for the summer of 2016. I want to take upper level biology courses such as genetics, micro, Biochem and cell bio so not all my biology courses are at a cc, as well as taking organics I & II, plus physics I&II and a math class to stay sharp for the DAT. BUT, this just isn't possible if I want to take the DAT this summer.

So, how should I approach scheduling? Physics I'll save for senior year since it's not on the dat. If I am set on taking the DAT next summer, what class schedule would you recommend junior year? Ive read genetics helps a lot, but it's very time consuming. Knowing I'll be taking the organic chemistry classes my junior year, what else can I include to prepare? Keep in mind my GPA will restart, so a bad semester could kill me.

I've been very indecisive lately and you guys really help me out, thanks in advance, as always 😀

How about Genetics, Micro and cell bio (or just 2 courses) together in Fall semester since they're bio courses?
Then Ochem or one of the course above in Spring 2016?
Biochem is not on the DAT (I think) so you can just take it during your senior year with Physics?

Your remaining courses are not too bad. Definitely doable and still have extra time to get on SDN in the next couple years haha.
But I would get the harder classes (to you) out of the way because Senior year usually = Senioritis.

Thanks Hannah!
I would have to take both organic I and II. So maybe Organic Chemistry I and Genetics in the fall semester and Organics II and cell bio in the fall? im tempted to take micro in the spring as well but I don't want to end up doing bad and hurting my GPA the first semester.
I'm not sure if I should prepare for a post bac and take it at a moderate pace, take the dat the end of senior year and apply a year late or just go for it 😕

Don't worry, you'll survive. I'm taking micro and general studies now for the last semester and it's super easy. Micro so far seems very general-bio-ish.
