Hello everyone! I am looking for suggestions on refining my school list. Any thoughts are appreciated!
1. Illinois resident at a state school. Not a URM
2. Finishing college in 3 years - Biology major, psychology minor
3. 4.0 GPA, 516 MCAT (129,128,128,131)
4. Activities:
Co-captain and member of Division 1 tennis team : 2000+ total hours
Research: Including summers - 1200 total hours, poster presentation at national conference, no publications
Medical Internship summer before college: 400 hours
Included 100 hours of physician shadowing
100 hours of hospital volunteering
Remaining hours included discussion of patient cases, viewings of surgeries, teaching about the heart by the physician, exploring research on various topics
Teaching inner city kids health education curriculum: 250 hours
4-week service trip to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil
Co-president of a club, executive board of another organization : 250 hours
Job experience includes being a tennis coach and online tutor: 300 hours

You have a good list and should receive several interviews. You could add Loyola, Rosalind Franklin and Medical College Wisconsin.

So you would say it is still a good idea to apply to schools with average MCATs several points higher than mine? Factoring in that I am not a URM, I thought that would make my odds very low at schools like Harvard, Yale, etc.

Your MCAT is only three points lower than Harvard acceptees! In fact, it's still within the 25th-75th %ile.You're in decent striking distance, especially considering that with Harvard matriculants, you're only one point below their median. The same holds true for Stanford. Yale might be tougher, as will U Penn, WashU, Vanderbilt, Northwestern NYU
