80 hrs shadowing (and more to come this summer)
1000+ hrs overnight ER tech experience

Some good ECs (baseball umpire, TikTok cooking videos, substitute teacher at my former high school)

Schools:
Missouri - Columbia
Missouri - Kansas City
Saint Louis University
Oklahoma (Doing undergrad in Oklahoma; sister and SO will be there for the next 3 years too)
Indiana
Creighton
Loma Linda (yes I fit the mission)
Loyola
Tulane
University of Central Florida
Miami
Virginia Commonwealth
West Virginia
Virginia Tech
Arizona - Phoenix (reach)
Arizona - Tucson
Texas Christian University
Emory (reach)

Remove West Virginia and Virginia Tech unless you have strong connections to those regions. You could add any of these schools:
USF Morsani
George Washington
Drexel
Temple
Jefferson
Hofstra
Einstein
Rochester
Pittsburgh
Western Michigan
Medical College Wisconsin

You don’t need more shadowing but you do need service to unserved/underserved humans in your community. The animal shelter is fine but find a shelter for people and put in the work there. Good luck.

I'll have about 30 hours volunteering for an organization that helps build outdoor classrooms and gardens for elementary students in underserved communities in my area. I also mention my experiences shadowing/working in the ER and my exposure to individuals affected by a lack of healthcare resources and how I'd like to one day provide services to them and practice rurally.

Delete IU and the U AZs.

ADD U VM, U CO, U IA, U WI, TUFTS, DARTMOUTH, HOFSTRA, UCSF, USF/MORSANI
I thought about adding some of those schools, but my stats seem a bit out of range for a lot of them.

Nope; your stats are good!
Ok! And regarding UA phoenix/tucson - I thought they took a considerable amount of OOS residents? That's why I had them on my list. But you probably know more about those schools than I do!

Why rural medicine? What experiences do you have that support this interest? Is the animal shelter in a rural setting?

I agree with my colleague you need some work with human shelters (non clinical especially). How often did you have to work a a substitute teacher?
