Can someone tell me why the answer is A? I tried line counting but it didn't work. Why is the answer not B, C, or D?

thanks.

okay well I'll do my best to explain...
1. IMAGINE what it looks like! don't depend on line counting!!!
2. when you look at the front view, notice that there are three shapes. The first is a U shape, and the other two are rectangles. keeping this in mind....
3. look at the end view. notice that the figure "juts out". so it is not all the same width. the U shape you saw in the front view is the part sticking straight up in the end view. remember the two rectangles? they are made up of the part that "juts out' and the last rectangle is because the figure has a slope at the bottom.
4. the answer is not b because the upper left and upper right corners are missing and from the end view we know that there should be something in these corners.
5. the answer is not c because it is missing the part that "juts out"
6. the answer is not D because it forms a solid rectangle at the top and we know from the front view the figure is not continuous because of that U shape.

yikes...i feel like my explanation is very very confusing. so sorry 🙁
I know that TFE is very frustrating but you need to explain to yourself the difference between solid and dashed lines so that when you look at the views, you know what they are telling you

Basically what jgdg said, but I went ahead and did some crappy microsoft paint job to hopefully give you a good visual. Not sure if I did that too well, but hope this helps! TFE is all about looking for unique characteristics to eliminate answer choices.
