I printed out my application, and there are no paragraphs in my essay. It appears to be all just one. Is that the way the schools will see it?

I heard something about pressing return twice between paragraphs and using wordpad instead of microsoft word....that is supposed to eliminate the problem.

Have you already submitted your application?

doctora foxy,
no, i have not submitted my application yet. I actually did copy my essay from word and pasted it onto amcas. How do I get rid of this problem. I would like to have my essay in paragraphs, not just one big blob! Please help!

bruin kid,

i hit enter twice to have a blank line between each paragraph, and even though my indents didn't appear in the printout, i still left them in.

that's the best advice i can give, and it's the best i've found on sdn.

simpleg-
so, you have paragraphs, but they are not indented?

This was a known bug with last year's application. I seem to remember something about the error being a result of the AMCAS application using HTML code to print, and thus not recognizing separate paragraphs unless designated as such with the &lt;p&gt; tag. But if I remember correctly, we were told that although the paragraph breaks don't show up when you PRINT, they ARE indeed actually there, and will show up correctly when the med schools view your essay. But based on AMCAS' track record, whether or not one should actually believe this is another matter! <img border="0" alt="[Laughy]" title="" src="graemlins/laughy.gif" />
