Hi there. Welcome to Student Doctor Network.

I think you have the wrong forum. Osteopathic medicine is not synonymous with orthopedic surgery.

If you want to know exactly what osteopathic medicine is, check out this link by the American Osteopathic Association
http://www.osteopathic.org/index.cfm?PageID=ado_whatis

I think your question can be best answered in the International Forums UK + Ireland Forum since you are inquiring about FRCS.

So I'm moving this thread over.

Unfortunately you are a couple of years too late to obtain the FRCS qualification. The new examination structure incorporates all the 4 colleges (of surgeons) including, England, Edinburgh, Ireland and Glasgow. The examination structure one can sit is the MRCS. Only after completing your training in UK/Ireland, can one sit the Exit exam and be awarded the FRCS. I presume that you will have to train in orthopaedics if that is your intended speciality. It was possible in the past for doctors from overseas to just sit exams to gain FRCS, but that is not possible anymore.

It is a long road ahead, and with the current climate with training and jobs in the UK (and things are just as competitive in Ireland) you will need all the luck and and be prepared for hard work in order to attain your goals.

Best of luck
