So, I am a sophomore in college, and I am asking medical students if I have sufficient ECs at this point since you all are in medical school.

ECs:

1. 6 years Army National Guard service
2. ~60 emergency department volunteer hours
3. I have four shadowing positions coming up in the next three weeks with: chief of vascular surgery at a hospital in Baltimore, orthopedic surgeon, sports medicine physician, and primary care physician.
4. May or may not count, you tell me... American Humanist Association member.
5. Currently a medical scribe at the hospital I where my volunteer hours were acquired.

My current gpa is 3.7. I just have to complete my pre-reqs for MCAT and take it, so obviously my GPA after that point and MCAT scores are a significant slice of the pie missing. Just wanted to know if there are any other ECs that I should pursue besides research to make myself competitive for medical schools.

Thank you!

You're good. It's not about numbers, it is about being able to show that these experiences made you more prepared to become a doctor. Don't flub the MCAT and you'll be fine.
