Helpful books for STEP 2

I am trying to improve on my STEP 2 exam. Plz suggest any helpful books for the exam. I have heard that First Aid is not as helpful as it was for step 1. Any suggestions. ?

I followed the recommendations posted here. I gotta say that Crush the Boards was fantastic. It may look expensive for the size, but it rocked!

Having said that,CTB seems to be the most preferred book.Boards and Wards seems also to be right at the top.FA sucks both edition new as well as the older one.
Dont go after Secrets or Mock..these are the same stuff in diffrent format.Dr Brochert got real greedy after Crush the Board,it seems.

Can someone explain in a couple of words what are the main differences bw crash the boards, boards and wards and FA for the step 2? I thought FA was-again- the golden standard and i ordered it from Amazon, but i can still cancel my order if it s not gonna be helpful.

I studied one day for step II. I read through B&W during that day, and thought I failed the exam (it's harder than you might think). I just got my score, 222, so B&W gets my vote. I think I would've scored significantly lower had I not read through that book. Don't know much about the other books, however, so can't comment on them. Good luck!

I studied secrets for step 2 and did as many questions as I could get a hold of...NMS, Qbank, A&L were great. I did stop at the bookstore duting my studies to glance at CTB, Mock, Ace...and they all had the same info, but in different format. It really just depends on which book is closer to your method of studying...outline vs questions vs straingt text. The test was definitely harder than i expected, but there's plenty of room to get a great score...

Unfortunately, there seems to be no consensus on which is the highest yield study material for step 2. However, from reading a lot of posts at various websites, hearing different opinions from other test takers, and from my own personal experience, I would say that for steps 1 and 2, it seems that First Aid and B&W are respectively the highest yield study material available for these two exams.

These books generally should be supplemented with question sets (NMS, Q-bank, and perhaps Mock step 2 if time permits) to get your mind tuned to skimming lengthy clinical vignettes for the diagnostic or management pearls which will save you time on test day.

As an added note, I have also heard that Swanson's Family practice is the single highest yield source of review material for Step 3.
