I'm an MS4 and a friend of mine recently applied to the med school I attend. I would like to help her but I'm not sure if I can. Do you guys think it would help to email someone from the admissions committee?

I would think it depends upon what you say and the culture of your school as well as your own connections and reputation at your institution. As an M4, you would presumably have more weight than an M1 or an M2, but I do not know how far that would take you.

I know some students at my school have written letters to the admissions committee in support of an applicant's application. I might not email somebody personally, just write a letter and let them add it to their file.
