Does anyone know if med students can write letters of support (not a LOR but an email or something) for a person applying to their medical school? I really want to help my friend in any way possible, so I was wondering if this would be okay? If so, what is the best way to do it/does anyone have experience doing this?

What could you possibly say about them as a med student? The answer is likely very little to nothing.

LORs should come from trusted supervisors and professors not peers.

Has this person been interviewed?

Definitely we aren't talking about formal LORs... you can't do that. But no one says you can't put in a positive word for someone informally to the admissions dean. It has as much weight as a faculty colleague (non-adcom) saying the same thing to them (i.e., none). You can ask the admissions office what to do or if it's allowed.

Of course, this assumes: 1) you aren't related and 2) you are a most excellent student not in any academic jeopardy.
