Hem Onc disappointment ...

I have been lurking in these forums for a while and learnt a lot.I applied for hemonc recntly and was badly disappointed.I had very good letters and I am doing residency in a reasonably reputed program.My board scores are average.What can I do to make up for it?Perform better on my ABIM exam?Will it compensate?
