My school teaches that the first step (ALA Synthase) and last 3 steps (Copro'gen III oxidase, Proto'gen oxidase, Ferrochelatase) are all in the mitochondrial matrix.

FA 2013 says only ALA Synthase and Ferrochelatase are in the mito matrix.

Various sources online confirm both of the above opinions..

What did you all learn? Is FA correct as far as the NBME is concerned?

Nevermind. FA just skips steps and FC is wrong.
