Hey everyone

Was wondering if anyone had issues getting the Hep B titer being HbsAg positive. I'm just asking because we usually get the vaccine during birth and <1year old. So I'm guessing many people would need a booster.

I was wondering if anyone else had this issue? I got a booster but have to check for immunopositivity in at least 4 weeks. If not, I have to get the series.

Essentially, this would prevent me (or anyone else with this problem) for getting away electives because they need immunization.

It's weird because my school did not require a Quantitave Titer upon entry - only a history of vaccinations.

This is very common. Happened to me as well. Most people convert eventually but there is still a small percentage who don't. Hospitals know this. If you don't seroconvert after repeating the entire series, providing proof of repeating the series is typically enough.

This has been brought up numerous times on SDN, so feel free to search for the other threads as well.

If you are surface antigen (HBSAg) positive you’re actually infected and may or may not need treatment.

I have a feeling they meant antibody, not antigen.
