Guys I really need your help,
I just took the DAT today and here it is...

AA -------- 19
TS-------- 20
Biology----- 19
G.Chem---- 21
O.Chem---- 22
PAT ------- 17
RC -------- 20
QR -------- 14 🙁

Now, this is my profile.... I have an Overall GPA of 3.6 and Science GPA of 3.72. I have one abstract published for the American Society for Hematology..and a paper coming soon from Nature + 30 hours of shadowing.... Do you think this is enough for some dental school to look at my application??? .... I am really confused and don't know if I should retake the DAT or not. Please I really need your help 😕

i think you're good to go no need to retake it coz of QR maybe a bit more shadowing would be perfect...

I wouldn't worry about your QR.. Everything else is fine. Was your app in early? What schools did you apply to? Reason I ask is that some schools have a minimum score on any section of the DAT -- usually 16 but depends on the school.

I will apply this week, I haven't sent anything yet, only my scores...Is that critical?? :scared:

Overall, I think your scores and experience look great. Don't worry too much about your qr score. I heard that qr isn't weighed as heavily as the other subjects.

You should call up the schools you're interested in prior to applying and read off your scores and stats. They'll let you know right away if the 14 is okay. (That way you won't have to spend the money for the schools only to find out that they have a minimum score required.) The only reason why I would be concerned is that it's pretty late in the game and it sounds (from what I've heard) like it gets super competitive for the few remaining seats after Dec 1...

Good luck and try to enjoy your post-DAT freedom! 😀

the 14 isn't critical. I have a friend with almost same scores as you and lower GPA.. He got interviews.. GPA can often make up for a low score on the DAT.

The only thing I'd be worried about is applying this late in the cycle. Call your state school if you have one.. That's always a better bet than the rest.
What schools are you applying to?

Good luck..

I live in Southern California, and I applied to UCLA, UCSF, UoP, USC, Ohio State University,
I am thinking of also applying to: Case Western, NYU, NOVA, Arizona, Las Vegas Nevada....
What do you think???

U will be FINE...Just Hurry to APPLY..HOW DID U LAST MIN STUDY?!! 😍

The last portions I concentrated were PAT, Bio, and Orgo.. As you can see, I didn't put math as one of my areas of study and it showed. One thing I have to say about the math, you better be a fast reader and understand word problems fast...you just have no time to thoroughly analyze a problem...if you have no idea what the problem is asking for, move on, don't waste your time on one problem, because you still have many more to take care of.

Hey gabrielmeraz, great scores! I had similar ones and I scored a 15 on the QR section. I do know that a 15 is the lowest score for several schools, but look into it. Not once has that pesky section come up in my interviews, so I think you should be fine. If you are wanting to apply to this cycle, and haven't sent your application in yet, you are rather behind the ball. I would still send it in if you are wanting to get into the class of 2009. Best of luck!

Thank you! I will definitely apply this cycle. I might end up in some mega-expensive school's roster but what the heck! I wan't to be a dentist and if its that what it takes...I'll try my chances!!
