I was just accepted into my state school yesterday and am going to accept the offer. However, this came at a bad time because I had just sent my second hefty deposit to another school yesterday morning in the form of a cashier's check. Does anyone have any experience getting a deposit like this back? I understand that my first deposit is gone, but since the second deposit isn't officially due for another 20 days I was wondering if I would have any luck calling the school and explaining the situation and asking for the check back.

Call your bank and ask to cancel the cashier's cash, quickly.
I believe you have a certain amount of days to cancel that check.
Also, tell the school you're canceling the check and will withdraw your acceptance there.

Call them ASAP. I had the EXACT same thing happen to me and the school was so nice about it. They didn't cash the check.
