I've tried to cut and paste you tube stuff (like youve done).....I've seen the clip on preview post but when I submit it it just gives the URL.

What am I doing wrong?

I'm hitting the youtube icon and pasting in the middle and eliminating any spaces.

If you wouldnt mind, please walk me thru your steps like you're speaking with your sister's 3rd grade son.

Instead of copy/pasting the URL copy and paste the "embed" info to the right of youtube video. When looking at the youtube video itself, go down a centimeter or so and to the right and you will see something that says "Embed:" and it is followed by a bunch of html looking stuff. Copy that line of code and paste it in between the youtube tag making sure that the tag has [] around it to start and [/] around it after.

Thanks Doc!

Ok it looks like I may have given you bad advice. What I posted just now is a working embedded video except I removed the first U in YOUTUBE from the code. All I did was copy the full URL and paste it in between the tag. I did not correct any spacing or anything else.

The stuff I posted in the first "helpful reply" I gave you appears correct when you preview but does not work when you actually post it. I think you may be somehow running into an issue by cutting and pasting rather than copying and pasting. Try that and if it doesn't work I am a ***** 🙂 .

I usually locate the unique YouTube identifier in the URL, several numbers/letters after the equal sign in the URL. Just copy that in between the tags.

In Pardi's post above, all you need in between the tags is the following: NAvszXODmPQ

...and you get this:

Well, I don't have a sister (just an older brother), but looks like you already got some good tips...

In the meantime... I love rednecks...

Thanks for the thread, I never knew how to do this either. If this doesn't work I guess I still don't. By the way, I think these terrible terry tate videos are some of the funniest on you tube. Pure entertainment. I hope this works.

Of course don't forget the Trunkmonkey series (the second one is my favorite):

by the way if you want to embed you tube there is a youtube button in the editor. Paste in the URL. Select it in the post and press the Youtube button. Viola.

On the side of the video is a URL. Copy that. Paste it in the message. Highlight it and hit the youtube button on the editor.
If you see it in the preview then it won't work. You should see a blank youtube player.

Weird.

When I preview post its there.....when I submit it isnt.

WUSSUP?

You don't need all that html stuff. In fact, our forums are set to reject html. I think that's what's going on.

you want:

You can get that http:// stuff from the navigation bar in your browser. Just copy whatever is there when you are watching the video on Youtube.
