Well, I found out Im getting a C in one of my classes. Its a gen ed class. This is my second semester in college and my 1st semester gpa was 3.560. If I dont drop this class, I would most likely end up getting a a 3.489--(assuming, I get at least a B)--which I noticed in the long term will not be good, b/c it will be really difficult to raise it. If I do drop it, my gpa will be 3.61. What should I do?? I asked a lot of people and most said drop it, but others said a W will look bad.

and you can't work to pull up the grade because...?

on the flipside, 1 W wont really matter, but are you going to W every time you think you'll be getting a C? that could add up to being a significant number of W's.. and idk, maybe it's just me, but if you were to get other C's, God forbid, id start thinking those W's were D/Fs lol. 🙂

either way, i dont think your taking the W or fighting for a better grade will make much impact in the long run. forming a trend from here on out will, however.

I think you should bust your butt and pull it up to a B. Come on, it's a gen ed class and you have two months to pull your grade up. Buckle down and do it.

don't blow a W on a GE. you might want to use one later on when you start taking real classes.

Try and pull it up. You can't get into the habit of dropping a class every time it is hard. ALL MED SCHOOL CLASSES ARE HARD!!! Plus you'll have to take it again eventually, and you may do just as poorly the second time around.

If you think you can get a B, don't drop it. The W would have a worse impact on your application anyway.

Personally, I would do damage control. If this class will inversely affect your progress, you should drop it. If you can handle it, take it. I would play it safe since a 3 credit class is insignificantly in the long run.

Speak with your professor and try to come up with a plan to mitigate the damages. Some professors are gracious and may even offer you some type of extra credit opportunities. Never give up.
