hi this is to help those who find biochem very difficult i would personally advise you to take kaplan classes short term 3 months which r nt that expensive if u really got to do nice in exam in ne consequence, ne ways just listen to biochem tapes of usmle part 1 and u will start loving biochemistry..........its so mind blowing explained in it...your all basics wil be cleared and u wont have to cram the subject ne more just for eg here is one topic from biochem: GLUCAGON activates protien kinase enzyme which is a phosphorylating enzyme and INSULIN activates protien phosphatase which is a dephosphorylating enzyme. Therefore in glycogenolysis which is stimulated pathway by glucagon and inhibited by insulin. Hence the rate limiting enzyme of it i.e. glcogen phosphorylase is activated i.e. glucagon phosphorlytates the enzyme because it stimulates protein kinase and if insulin dominates it activates protein phosphatase which will dephosphorylate the enzyme inactivating glycogen phosphorylase ..................Hence it answers our most imp quest of nbde that glycogen phosphorylase is activated when phosphorylated and inactivate when dephosphorylated i hope u guys understand it.........but may be my style is wrong that proffessor in biochem tapes is awesome i challenge u once u hear those tapes u will start loving the subject rest is upto u

hi reni,
its really interesting...i hope it will be helpful.

I just take the exam, and I know that biochem is a very hard subject, but through this site, I learn a lot on how to passed the biochem, for me, I first read the Lippincott for biochemistry, and I used the USMLEguidelines on how to review, it looks like a study guide, and if you have enough time you can study with their pattern of studying, after that I combine Kaplan and decks. But of course don't forget the old question, although my score is not that high, but it really helps me.

yeah, I 've already passed it, thanks to you guys. Can you advice me on how to review pharma ang pathology, I thinks it's the most hard subject in part II. I should prepare early now because there are so many subjects unlike part I.

Hi myra1972

What's your Part 1 score?

My score is not as high as others, but I'm so thankful to God that at least I passed it. My scores are 76, 79, 80, 82.
