hi i am going into my 4th sem. i did awesome this past fall i got an 3.83 for a GPA i worked my butt off....my concern right now is that after i graduate i am thinking about going into the Peace Corps before going off to Med school.....does anyone think that would be a bad idea if so why? and if it is what would you recommend i do....... i have a whole issue with this because i know once i get into med school ill be studying even more and will not have very much time to do anything else and i really wanna do something before i start.....dont get me wrong my heart is set on med school....but i have heard that many people dont even entire med school until at least 25......please write back or email me at [email protected]

Why on earth would taking off a year for the peace corps be a bad idea? I think it would be a great experience and actually look good on your applications. Go for it!

Although there are similar options once you are into medicine (Doctors Without Borders), I think it is much easier to do such things when you are young and unattached (not to mention without the financial debt of medical school).

Yes, the median age of entrance at many medical schools is around 25 and some well beyond this. You will be at no disadvantage to entering later, and in many respects may be at an advantage.

Regardless, go where your heart is and everything will always work out.
