hi i am new to this forum...my friend recommended this site to me...i wrote my part1 {3rd time} and got 76%.but lost anatomy.i used to think of just passing this test until i visited this site...i just couldnt believe my eyes when there were people who were thinking of retaking the exam who got 91%.i just never knew the competition!!!hmmm...well i finished my bds from tamil nadu{india}.just an average student...and here i was praying to GOD to atleast make me pass the boards until i visited this site!!!sheesh!!!i will certainly retake the anatomy but taking the boards part1 again...hmmm...i dont think so...coz i just dont know how i got through in physiology/biochemistry!!!my worst subjects!!!!yukyukyuk...anyway...i will post some questions which came for my boards this time tomorrow...ok...

take care...

is that 76 without the anatomy score or with it?

i would advise to just retake it. unless you plan to practice somewhere else other than the US, or your uncle works at a dental school department.

post some questions, i plan to retake next month. join the retake club, lol.

hi...

yea..the retake club huh...hmmm...i know tht its a very bad score.but i will write anatomy again.but like i said this was my third attempt dude...my scores were 72 then 74 then 76...hehe...i guess i was improving rite?hehehe...but i dont think i can study bio/physio again!!!well i know my chances of getting into a school is hanging by a thread but u know i tried so hard this time and...GOD gave me just a pass mark.so i am thankful and am putting my trust in God{my faith is an altime high after attempting these exams!!!} to show me whatever he has prepared for me!!!coz i am not too adamant on trying again and again for this...i will do the anatomy part and then wait mayb another year and thats it!i mite shift to hygiene!!!hmmm...u never know what tomorrow brings...rite...

hi emotions
good luck in your anatomy
I was just wondering, what was your objective in taking part 1 exams??
Are you looking at entering into a Advance Standing program at a university??
because no offence to you but that kind of score will not get you anywhere
You need a high score if you are looking into getting into some school
people who are already into dental school are just looking to pass their board exams, but as you said you are from tamilnadu and trying very hard to just pass your exams,
so can you tell me excactly what your objectives are??
maybe we can guide you correctly here
take care and good luck

yea...my objectives were when i came here was to be only a dentist...and i am tellling u man...i have tried my best...but u know sometimes it just doesnt go according to how one plans his life...well thats whats happened here..i did my best but as u can see(only managed to pass third time)...studying is not one of my bright areas...even if they asked for me to do volunteer work of dentistry for 5years i would luv to do it but studying....hmmm....so i have put my trust in Jesus and know that he is guiding me{eventhough at the moment to where is clueless}!!!now i am willing to even try my hand in hygiene...yea so thats it...gonna try anatomy thn apply if not ...hygiene.yea yea i read about people with above 90% got getting anywhere and thinking of retaking but hey there also guys who got around 80% who got admissions...rite...so i am optimistic and always find a positive side...

Hi,
Thanks for posting micro questions!!
It will help so many of us here at sdn forums ..
looking forward to your DA questions!! and also anat!
Good Luck with everything! 👍 🙂

Dont mean to sound fatherly and giving u unwanted advices but hey, I would say give it one more shot. Try to change your pattern of studying a little bit. You passed it this time, you are getting there, all you gotta do is improve that score and am sure you will. just don give up yet dude.Even if you score somewhere in 80s you will get into a dental school sooner or later.....I plan on taking my NDB I exam in a month from today and i donno how i am gona fare but sure as hell am trying again if i do bad...thanx for the questions..they r helpful..hey did u notice most of these questions are from decks and released question papers...next time when u go for ur exam make sure to mug em up(Decks n Q papers)

Hey emotion1777 congrats on the passing score. I know you must be very happy now that you have taken the exam and passed it. I was wondeing how did your scores get back soo soon? You took it on April 5th, 2005 right? Did you take it on the comp? Oh well once again congrats on your accomplishments. You deffinately deserve it and now you can continue on your journey of becoming a dentist

Hi emotion, thnx for the questions.

My advice to you is to take a break for a month or so, find a study partner or partners, and discuss the decks and released exams with him/her. I believe if you can get a 76, you can get an 80 or 82, you have a much better chance with an 80 then a 76. Remember, the national average is 82 or 84 so not everyone on this forum is getting a 90+ and there are many people going through what you're going through but at least you are honest enough with yourself to admit it. All I can say is hang in there, look at another future for yourself like a hygienist or whatever you decide if that's what you want just in case dentistry doesn't work out but keep checking for schools that open up an idp program as their part 1 score requirement is usually fairly low and even just passing once they open.

Good luck with whatever profession you choose for yourself!

Thnx emotion!! this is a great help

thanx for the refresher. now im actually worried i may do worse!! argh!

well, you have 3 months b4 you can take the exam. i would skip the anatomy and start studying biochm/phys now. i also volunteered to watch a dentist extract and he cracked the roots and actually left some behind and told the patient. they're too quick to disect the tooth to pull it out quickly. 5 more minutes luxing, and it would come out whole. jeez. but i wouldnt work without x-rays though, in any condition.

im up and studying right now, and feel like im going too slow. how the hell these people getting 90s+? decks and papers dont cover everything, its like 50%. the rest i feel is from your education, and good guessing. hahhaa

i soon will be a hygienist, but wont stop until im pulling out wisdom teeth out whole myself!

Hey emotion, the idp program is the advanced standing program, the 2-3 year program foreign dentists need to take to equivalize what they've taken in their home country and become licensed in the U.S.
By the way, if you plan on taking the anatomy again, contact me [email protected] , I have some unreleased exams 2000,2001 and 2002 which I normally sell but I will send them to you for free, just send me your address.

Regards,

hi emotion,
this is my first time on this site .i registered today.i am also a dentist 40m india.just finished my grad, married and am here since december.i have just started collecting material 4my studies.thinking of appearing next year.do u think decks+kaplan is enough 4 exams.i am really confused.help me.

hi kaul...

welcome to the gang!!!well what can i say?its a long long way to go to 'vaya nokal'{malayalam}/look and treat a person's mouth!hmmm...but GOD willing it will all be for the best!!!get the dental decks, released question papers and byheart them.when i say byheart i mean 'BYHEART' each and every lne!!!it is also a matter of how many times u 'revise' the subjects!back in india i used to struggle with the short answer and essay types even!!!i am the type who memorizes 5points out of 10 ina topic and then writes a big story invloving these 5points!!!i used to just barely pass...but i was happy since i was the type who wanted to hang a gold medal in my clinic and at the sametime not be able to treat a patient to his/her stisfaction!i took pride in making the patient relieved or satisfied wen he left my treatment...but whats the use now!!!here to atleast even dream of touching a patient with a probe is like...hmmm...well i dont even know how to put it in words!!!anyway like i said u just study the decks, question papers and u shld be excellent.definitely u will score above 80%.also u should have GOD"S grace!!!just stand firm in your faith and pray dude!!!that evrything turns out for the best and to accept whatever he is trying to tell u!!!do keep in touch!!!

all the best 👍

Hi.I just have a few questions, if you have time.I've heard a lot of people complain that Anato is very difficult.I am trying myself to prepare and I seem to get lost in how vast the material is.Esp. when I start going thru toraco-abdomeno-lombaro-upper limb nonsense. Can you tell me since you are experienced with the NDB , are they really asking questions about where are the hand muscle inserted or details about thorax or stuff like that? How deep are they going with those. Can you help me make an ideea? I would appreciatte very much.Thanks.

hi dent2005...

hows the prepartion coming?the exam which i took didnt ask much about insertions but they did ask something about the rectus femoris, attachment.then about blood supply of thorax, larynx, vocal cords...they also asked about the blood/nerve supply of these parts...but i think everyone gets a different question so...keep studying...and best of luck!!! 👍

Life is like that, full of adventures, trials, and hope! 🙂
