I am about to register at a local CC and have run into a bit of a quandry.

When I got out of hs I went to a very prestigious college, lasted two years and flunked out basically. I'm not sure what my final gpa was, but it was under 2.0.

Since then I went to a technical college and got an associates degree with a 3.99 GPA.

Now when I fill out the 'previous schooling' do I have to include my flunk out school. The biggest problem with the school is the fact that I can't access my transcript. They have a hold on my account.

Even if I could send my transcript out, there is nothing that I really care enough credit wise that would help me. I want to start fresh and take ALL of my pre-reqs.

So should I omit the school from my 'previous schooling' experience or include it and hope that they don't "require" a transcript.

What school did you go to prior if you don't mind my asking?

I wouldn't feel too badly about that, as I've heard Georgia Tech really works its students to death in a weedout environment. Unfortunately I think you'll have to disclose your academic record as it's against pharmacy school policy to hide your previous schools of attendance. If they find out, they have a lengthy description of something along the lines of 'disciplinary action, revoking of admission" and what not.

From what I understand, you must disclose all of your academic records to the college of pharmacy that you apply to. Also, you will need to clear any holds that Georgia Tech has on your transcript, because not only will they withhold it from you, they will not release it to anyone until you clear up your records. If you apply through PharmCAS, you need to disclose all academic institutions you have attended and ensure that those transcripts are forwarded to PharmCAS. You should call the school you want to apply to and ask them about this.

Sorry, but I don't think there's any way to get around this without clearing your holds and writing a really good personal statement that explains your reasons for "flunking out" from your prior school. You can't just ignore it and wish it never happened. I wish you the best of luck!!!!

I agree with evilolive and volleychica. You need to disclose everything. I debated whether or not I should disclose the grad program I attended but didn't finish... but I ended up disclosing everything. I'm not sure if the school or PharmCAS has any way to find out about your academic history, but if after you're admitted, they found out you omitted info on your application (ie fraud) that'd be grounds for expulsion.

My own undergrad grades were nothing to write home about... mostly C's and a few B's and A's from an engineering program. I went back to community college as a much more mature (academically and personally) and dedicated student, and did great in the P-school prereqs. It's not a sin to have done poorly at a tough instituion. Just be able to show that you have matured and dedicated and are now excelling. Be prepared to have a good concise explanation for your past troubles, but I wouldn't dwell on it. Honest is the best policy.

Good luck.
