Hello everybody, I was wondering what are my chances for Med schools. I have a 4.0 GPA and got a 29Q on my MCAT but the scores are very uneven (VR 4, PS 12, and BS 13). I did not do high school here and just came to the country 5 years ago. I have extracurricular activities, shadowing, leadership, etc. I am really confused. Thanks for your help ! ! !🙁

One generally needs to get at least an 8 in verbal to be considered for MD schools. You need to retake.
My advice? Read a ton, and make sure you can get a decent score in verbal when you retake.

I'm sorry to say, but that 4 is going to really hurt you. Some schools may consider interviewing you since English isn't your 1st language, but I wouldn't count on it.

Maybe someone whose first language isn't English can give him/her some more advice??

Yea I personally wouldn't mind a 29/its not a bad score.... but that 4 will pretty much keep you out of US MD schools. Your going to have to retake

I agree. See the MCAT Discussion Forums for threads specific as to how to raise your verbal score.

considering you can type properly and have been here 5 years, with all those ECs, i do not think you are a hermit...

so i think 4 is reallly unlucky
(if u can understand textbooks well enuff to get a 4.0 too..)

you can probably do better than that.

4 seems more like someone randomly guessing.

well so retake.

just imagine when u get an 8 on verbal u will have a very nice mcat score.

and i hope ure not a troll😛
