Alright, so I was told by my clerkship director that I would most likely be bumped up from a high pass to an honors. I was just informed that I'm, in fact, not getting bumped up. Is this going to keep me out of a lot of top programs? Granted, I have a 230+ step 1 and am awaiting my medicine sub-i grade. :(

i heard that ucsf uses honors in the third year medicine clerkship as a screen.

maybe a few...but generally NO. i know plenty of people who didnt honor medicine and got into top 10 schools.

The rumor at least is that some of the top programs do use honors in medicine as a screening tool... specifically I've also heard that about UCSF, MGH/Brigham as well. In any case, there's nothing you can do about it so just focus on getting honors grades in your sub-i's, strong letters, etc.
