I see that a lot of high schoolers are going the non-traditional route of going to med school by going outside of Canada on these international forums ...
With the appeal so great, would anyone care to comment on the actual percentage of these high schooled IMG's that get back into Canada right after graduation (ie graduate June then 1 month later get into a Canadian residency)?
As well, what are the reasons for "fast tracking" knowing that you will 100% have a harder time getting back into Canada as most of those who do go abroad know (well, not all of them know until they actually are in med school)?
I say this in not meeting any Canadians (at least at Queen's) who went straight to med school outside of Canada then got back into a Canadian residency right after.
