Hi everyone. I want to know how much will the following "bad move" hurt my chances of matching radiology:

I have a step 1 of 222. 2 months ago I passed step 2 CS, and I unfortunately "got desperate" and jumped into Step 2 CK with insufficient study for the sake of "getting over with it" and scored 194!!!!

Any one knows how much will the PD's worry about this bad step 2 CK score as to disqualify me in spite of my step 1 score?

Thanks guys.

That is going to hurt you. Your step one score is not "high" either. Hopefully your grades/class rank are good and you have some research done. But be prepared talk about your step II score if you get interviews. Maybe it would be beneficial to add something in your PS to account for the low step 2 score.

Thanks for your advice. I will take it into account.

I wouldn't put Step 2 into your personal statement. Let them ask you if they want. I also wouldn't worry too much about Step 2 affecting your interview invitations, since almost all of them are based around Step 1 cutoffs. I didn't even take Step 2 until just before graduation.

Thanks for your counseling. It has been of great help to me.

I hope that most programs indeed use my step 1 scores for the cut-off point and get a reasonable number of interviews.

Bye!

Have you received interviews yet?
