Anyone that likes cars will know what I mean - this book is like the previous generation BMW M5 before they added the 19" rims and mega-lip over the quadpipes.

In other words, it's got a plain-jane cover but a lot of juice under the hood. I've taken 3 NBME's so far and in reading this book I find that the answers to several "huh, that's esoteric" questions are in this book. It's really a hidden gem with an unfortunate title... Anyone else find that too?

one week to go, is it worth it to cram this in or just hit FA hard with qbank as I had planned?

thanks

love the M5 analogy by the way, got a chance to ride in the new model earlier this year!

HY Histo fan here. I heard/read somewhere that they're changing the title to "HY Histopath" to make it more marketable.

I predict that in a few years, it'll be one of the "must-haves" for Step 1.

wow, you've sold me! will be hitting that up next. thanks!

I will go opposite everyone else on this - i think the book is a waste of time to read. It does have a bit of everything and makes you feel better as you are reading it since it's basics of lots of things. I am not sure the actual value of this. You should review each subject with a book in that subject. Also, I wouldnt' waste time studying histo - not worth the time as you will get 2-3 questions on it. Just my opinion (and based on a read of the book).

Good luck,

I just went through this book today (I had only looked at a few chapters before).

It's not that good. The path content and pharm content take up a lot of space but neither are sufficient so you have to read that stuff elsewhere anyway.

The bits of histo that are in here are pretty good but black and white printing makes it inferior to using a small color atlas.

Dudek should integrate the true histo into cell & molecular (which is good but short), and drop the rest.

This book is not essential.
