For the poor students in debt matching in competitive residencies, where are the highest paying summer research positions?

My guess is some of the NIH labs maybe.

our school has a set up summer research program MS1s compete to get into and it is funded by the NIH.

my stipend last summer was about $5,200 for 10 weeks. different mentors required different commitments. some got that much for showing up for a morning 3x a week and some were worked like dogs.

Hey Seabass, I'm a 1st year at UTH. How competitive are the research jobs? I've just started putting some thought into what I'm doing this summer and I had been planning on doing a preceptorship, but I'm still a little curious about research.
