Oh yeah, zaitsev/hoffman is in relation to the formation of double bonds. Where as markovnikov is says the nucleophile will attach to the most substituted carbon, right?
hoffman and zaitsev you see a lot in E2 reactions and zaitsev you see a lot in E1 reactions. and yep, with markovnikov, it would definitely attach to the most substituted carbon!
