hey i'm tweaking my personal statement and i'm wondering if i should put anything in it about me being homeschooled through most of my education up until college. i have to put it on my AMCAS anyway, so would it be best to talk about it in my personal statement if applicable? or do med schools just look at that and roll their eyes? or would it make my application stand out in a good way?

I don't see how it's relevant to your wanting to become a physician. But if it had an impact on your decision, then go ahead. I'd see it as having a neutral impact.

I've noticed a lot of questions about what is and is not appropriate for people's Personal Statements lately. The general rule of thumb is to ask yourself this question:

Is it relevant?

If the answer is 'yes' then include it.

As long as it helps paint your picture, tell your story, or supports your claims as you why you want to be a doctor... then by all means.

If the answer is 'no' then don't force it.

I agree, I think it might also make you seem antisocial or something, and it's not really advantageous in any way I can think of. But if it really influenced you to become a doctor, then you should put it.

I was homeschooled, and I agree with the people above. If there was something about being homeschooled that made you want to go to med school then put it on. Otherwise, don't use up precious personal statement space. I remember talking about it in a several interviews, but I didn't get any negative comments. Please don't be worried about being seen as "anti-social." I didn't get that at all. PM me if you have any other questions.
