I know the writing section isn't that important, but I just can't seem to get the hang of how to do it. I'll sit there trying to analyze the quote, but no good examples come to mind. I can't wrap it up, either. Any tips/hints?

Thanks. I'll do that.

I'm getting ****ing RAPED in the verbal section. I opened EK101 passages and got a 1/6 in the first passage. IDK what's going on...

Don't worry, your verbal butthole pain is shared with most pre-meds. I'm waiting for it to "click" like everyone says it will.

...It turns out there are errors in the "checklist"...two of the answers on the last passage are incorrectly answered and there's a question 18? The ****? So on the last passage I got 5/5 apparently.

I would suggest looking at the sample writing prompts on the aamc website (I know there are a lot, just pick the ones which you think would be difficult). Also, you should look at some of the better written essays at http://www.premed101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51813
That really helped me compare my essays (try and finish under 30 mins every time).
As for the verbal, i suck so no advice from me.

you can always make some stories up.
I don't remember if I used any real information as my backing up sources/examples, I think AAMC just want you to be able to write coherently, whether the content is made up or not.

Are you bad at writing or verbal? I wouldn't worry about writing. I can write pretty well and I got a M. Just find out the "formula" they like. I didn't do that. I got in without anyone questioning my writing score.

Nobody ever mentioned the writing portion of my MCAT score (42M), even though it is below the 10th percentile at most schools I applied to. I suppose some schools might have rejected me outright because of it. However, getting interviews at 1/3 of schools applied to is a typical yield so I don't think a 'horrible' writing score hurts at all.

Yeah, getting a 42 may trump the writing score...I'll take a 40L over a 32R anyday.

But yes, Verbal is brutally killing me if Writing doesn't count. Gonna start reading some newspapers and browsing that topic list when doing some Verbal.
