Yes that is me, I am horribly sick right now and it happens to be finals week. This really sucks. It takes my concentration off of everything. Has anyone else been sick during finals?

Yep...you just gotta bite the bullet. This is what med school's about anyways...doing stuff and going on when you think you can't anymore. Get better soon.

Being sick during finals last semester made the difference between A+ in two classes and A- in two classes.

My finals are this week and I had food poisoning all weekend! Yuck!

...the wonderful effects of stress on the immune system. 🙁

Yep, I was sick enough to land into the ER even though I knew what was wrong with me. Kidney infection that came back, it it hurtr like someone punched you really really hard.

It stunk big time, I failed a class because of it (the final was around 30% of the class, and I was in the ER for anothere exam which was 20% of the grade). The other final I missed (one was Friday, one was Saturday--in the ER Friday morning and was on minimum 48 hours of bedrest), the TA was super sweet as he had been the entire semester while I was sick, and gave me 7 months to make up the final.

Depends on how sick you are I's try to talk to the professor, after seeing a doctor. Couldn't hurt, might help.

Yeah, I've got an awful cold right now. Fortunately, I was only sick for my last final (this morning), and was perfectly well last week for my two harder finals. I always seem to get sick around this time of year b/c the stress and lack of sleep leaves the body more susceptible to colds and flu.

If you are sick enough to go to the hospital, you will certainly get an incomplete and not have to take the exam. All they will need is proof of your doctor visit. You can make it up next semester/quarter. Even if you are not that sick, but sick enough that it is affecting your performance, you can e-mail your professor. They may take mercy on you, especially if you have been a conscientous student.

I became sick during one final my freshman year and made it up the next quarter. They didn't even question it, the health service had forwarded my name to the appropriate department already. Take care of your health. Colleges are recipes for being sick anyway ... lack of sleep, poor/irregular nutrition, alcohol consumption, and exposure to a large number of people. The stress of finals just exacerbates this.

During the third term of my freshman year, I got a horrible flu right before a day when I had 3 finals. I remember puking, and not being able to sleep the night before. The most vivid memory I have of the experience was of getting up at 8 am for a physics final (which was at 10:15 am) and going to school. I had nothing to do, so I went into the silent, empty lecture hall and stared into complete darkness for about an hour. Completely surreal, and I was out of it.

However, I got an A in all 3 of those classes, so it made me question a correlation between sickness and testing ability. My (very rough) hypothesis is that the horrible state I was in made me really apathetic about the tests; all I cared about was my ****ty health. I was completely destressed and un-nervous about the tests I was taking.

Ok, you might just have to really try and block your sickness out. You may do a lot better than you think. Something similiar happened to me this semester, except it was two midterms on the same day (biochem was at 8am, and Organic at 5pm!) The worst thing about it was, I tossed and turned all night long. Finally, I gave up and decided to just stay up. I literally was so sick, and so ridiculously tired I thought my grades were ruined. The first test came at 8am, then I had to stay up until 5pm for the second test. I sat in a private room in the library drinking a couple red bulls. I really thought I was screwed. After the second test, I waited in fear. I kept reminding all my friends that I probably was so out of it I spelled my own name wrong......Well to my huge surprise, I got a perfect score on both of them!! The funny thing was I had already emailed both my profs to explain how I had been sick and did not sleep for a day and a half. The probably thought I was crazy. Who knows, maybe I am🙂
Anyways, the point of the story is to not worry too much. Sometimes you can be so out of it that you don't over analyze details on the tests. Thus, you just start writing down what you know. Good luck.

Same thing happened to me last semester. First fever I'd had in about 10-12 years. Flu horrible. I actually did really well in Organic and Econ but stupid stuff, maybe sleep, groggy, I dunno, did me in on Analytical. Make sure you're well rested(more important when sick) and pop a bunch of non-drowsy medicines pretty early.

I have finals in a week, and have bronchitis, wtf
