Hello people! Does anyone know if there is a difference in pay for optometrists who work in hospitals? Also, besides retail chains, where would you say most optometrists work? All opinions respected and appreciated.

The majority of ODs are actually in private practice (ie. solo or group).

Most hospital optometrists work in employed relationships for a salary. There may be benefits that don't show up in the paycheck until much later on. For example, you may receive a tuition break for yourself and your family at the same institution, paid CE, holiday and vacation and reimbursement or payment of all professional dues.

Most, however, are in private practice away from a hospital.

Good question, but why did you ask this question?
