hospital pharmacy internships

Hey guys,

I was looking into possible hospital pharmacy internships for the summer and discovered the Johns Hopkins Pharmacy Internship and Mayo Clinic Internship. Can any of y'all tell me about how competitive (in terms of admissions) these two programs are and if you've actually been through one of them, how was the experience? Thanks!

One of my classmates was an intern at hopkins. I didn't ask him about it much, but he seemed to like it. I'd imagine it to be pretty comprehensive in terms of exposure. It's like having a nice, paid, institutional IPPE before we start ours in the 3rd year.

I'm a P2 but have never had institutional exposure other than 32 hours of IPPE. Applied to Mayo last year as a P1 (for their outpt, not their hospital) and didn't even get an interview (and I'm really not that bad of a candidate, my GPA is pretty good and I'm involved with APhA). This year I'm applying for Hopkins. I know I might be a little on the old side for it, but how else am I going to get hospital exposure if places in Philly are pretty saturated?

Hopkins has a lot more spaces than Mayo, so I would imagine it's less competitive.

Oh BTW you have to at least have completed P1 to do Mayo.
