I was told by an attending (not a Pysiatrist) that Pysiatrists cannot gain hospital privilages. Is ths true? and if its not true how hard is it to gain privilages?

are you joking?
 
Do you mean physiatrist or psychiatrist? Anyhow, both are equally privilegable at hospitals. I am on the credentials committee of a large hospital, and know there is no reason or law to exclude either.

I think he may have meant that Physiatrists likely won't be privileged to admit pts to a general medical floor, and can only admit to acute or subacute rehab.
 
I apologize. I guess I need a course in spelling. I did mean Physiatrist. thanks to all for the comments.
