Hi

I wanted to know what is the typical pay and lifestyle working for a VA hospital. I know its a govt job so their is job security. Does one feel working fora VA is better than private practice.

VA salaries are similar, or maybe a tad higher, than academics. They are offering $140K to grads from my program. Lifestyle seems to be good (40 hrs a week) with infrequent beeper call, lower clinic volume/inpatient census and better support staff (many have their own NP/PA and resident if affiliated with a PM&R program). Everything probably varies a little based on location. Downside, at least how I see it, is limited growth potential, but if you want a cush, punch a clock, kind o job it should not disappoint.
