Is it looked down on by programs if you do a hospitalist year after IM and start fellowship after 1-year of working? Is this common at all and do people do this?

Is it looked down on by programs if you do a hospitalist year after IM and start fellowship after 1-year of working? Is this common at all and do people do this?

I did hospital medicine for 3 years and it was a great decision and did not have an impact on my application, the only thing you need is to be involved in research or projects regarding your speciality which was easy to do on your off week.

So choose wisely and pick a hospitalist job in or near academic center
