Anyone ever have batteries that went hot inside the scope?

I put in some fresh Panasonic AA batteries into my pocketscope handle, turned it on, and the batteries became very hot. I felt the handle becoming warm. Scared the shiznit out of me. I quickly dumped the batteries, as I thought they would explode. I know I put the batteries in the right direction.

This is surely a sign of demonic posession of your pocketscope. You need an exorcist!

Make sure that metal attachment is secured at both ends where the battery makes contact, including the end where it the bottom screws off.
