Dumb question...

Many of the places I'm interviewing have offered to pay for hotel accommodations the night before the interview, and several of them have actually made the hotel reservation for me (vs. asking me to do it and then send a confirmation # to them so they can pick up the bill). I know probably everybody's in the same boat, so I'll go ahead and ask my dumb question, hoping that someone can clarify.

Today I received an email from one of the programs saying that they made a reservation and that I "MUST confirm the reservation with a credit card." It goes on to say that I'll be charged for the room if I cancel the interview but don't cancel the hotel room. Up until I read this, I thought that confirming hotel reservations at the front desk with my credit card when I checked in would be enough.

So... my question is, do I need to call all of the hotels that I didn't personally make my reservations at (to confirm the reservation with my CC#)? (What happens if I don't call to confirm the reservation with my CC#?)?

Thanks in advance!

No. The program that contacted you today has this policy. Presumably they havce been screwed too many times by candidates in the past. If prior programs have not requested this, you do nothing.
