For my extracirriculars, do med schools and the apps ask for a time range (ex: Mar 2013- Mar 2017) or hours per week?
Some of my extracirrirs are only for 3 months each year so how should I go about writing these (Mar 2013 -Mar 2017 OR Mar 2013- June 2013, Mar 2014-Hune 2014, etc)
And if its for a prolonged period of time, should I average out the hours per week or give how many hours per week I work regularly without average?

Wait never mind I completely read your post wrong. Disregard my other post if you saw before the edit. But I have been told ..For example march 2013-march 2014 200 hours 30 hours a week. (Math is hella off but it's just to give op an example)

And as far as your three month one I'm not sure if you should do it each year because it's the same place assuming but I guess it would be more accurate to list them each time under one name does that make sense? XYZ HOSPITAL June 2013-Aug 2013 60 hours June 2014-Aug 2014 60 hours etc.

What's a good amount of hours to have for an extracirrucilar? I have four-five of extracirrs with 3-4 hours per week each...is that too little?

Dude, how did you manage to misspell extracurricular that badly? Have you never seen the word written out even once?

Anyways, AMCAS requires both month/year of start and end, as well as total hours worked. You don't need to give hours/week. If your activity is repeated, there is an option to indicate this and you can list up to three additional date ranges.

There is no minimum time for your activity to be significant, but in my opinion, volunteering/research/employment should be in the 100s of hours over the course of >1 year to show commitment. Obviously other things, like shadowing, would be much less.

You should go to the AAMC website and peruse the AMCAS manual, which is a 90-page pdf that explains the entire application. You could even make an account for the 2014 year just to check it out if you are curious.

Ok, thanks I'll check that out.
And also, would things like intramural sports be worth putting on there as extracurriculars?
