Aside from 4+ yrs in an OR prior to med school, let's say I just got my Step 2 score. I've seen enough to know that the extreme heroism and posturing played by House doesn't work when you have colleagues that aren't your residents. Doctors who behave as he does lose their priveleges at hospitals, and grovel back after they've attended "sensitivity" seminars. Maybe a$$ wasn't entirely accurate. He is so much more than that.
I know this is just a TV show, and I know that the drama is heightened for mass consumption, but for real, I truly hope you have never actually worked with a physician like him. If you haven't worked with someone who possesses the vanity and pathos of Nip/Tuck, wait until you graduate. There are far more of them out there than House.
