I was just curious what people do for housing during third and fourth year rotations, especially ones that are far away? I am pre med and will be applying to medical school this summer (D.O.), and this question I have just popped into my head today. Any insight would be appreciated.

Most 3rd year rotations are at your home institution (if your school has one). If you are doing away rotations, some places will have housing available - sometimes for free, usually for added $$

if housing isn't provided, you can email the school student affairs office - they frequently have a list of people with rooms to sub-let that they can put you in touch with.

Of course, there's always the long-term hotel option, but it's really expensive!!

best of luck with your apps

I am not sure about other schools but I know at VCOM they have houses set up at the various rotation sites where you will live with three or four other med students on rotation and the costs of that housing is included in your tuition.

VCOM 👍

Are you talking about your school's required rotations? Yes, housing is provided for those here (TCOM), but any elective rotations that do not provide housing is your responsibility (such as out of town/state electives)

For instance, I am now looking for (and have just acquired) housing for an out of state rotation. I am sub-letting another med students apartment who will, in turn, be on an out of town rotation (probably sub-letting another med students apartment)... the circle of houses
